Food insecurity early in the COVID-19 pandemic spurred the ARJ Community to take action with a program of Grocery Giveaways. Food insecurity has not gone away, so these giveaways have continued as monthly event. Check our events calendar to see the date of the next giveaway!
We are a safe sleep organization, informing new moms about practicing safe sleep techniques with their newborns. We also host an annual community baby shower to inform moms about a healthy safe environment and the benefits it will have on the families. Moms walk away with resources, gifts, portable cribs and Pampers. Babies sleep safest Alone, on their Backs, in a Crib. Click here to learn more about these ABCs, or join the Moms' Club here!
We receive and distribute truckload donations from various retailers. These donations provide relief for families in need during a crisis. The operation of our donations warehouse provides employment to people experiencing hardship.
Featured: The Audacious Alpha Delta Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority! Thank you to everyone one who donated to our Can Drive this holiday season. The donation collection was WELL over what we expected. Special that you to the students of Harris-Stowe State University and Metro Academic and Classical High School! All donations were made to Arthur Roy Johnson (ARJ) Community Outreach and Episcopal Church of All Saints and Ascension.
Each year, we help the children in our community go back to school with everything they need to succeed!
The food insecurity associated with the COVID-19 pandemic was the impetus for what has become our Grocery Giveaway program (see above!). Images from the COVID-19 Response Grocery Giveaways in 2020 are shown below.
